Terri McGarry, MA, LPC

Terri received her Master’s in Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, where she learned to integrate rigorous biblical studies with the most recent science on mental health. She received the school’s highest honor, the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement and Contribution to the Seminary. Her studies were focused on marriage and family and advanced issues in child counseling.

Terri believes people will only thrive when they are in healthy relationships with one another. She enjoys empowering and encouraging clients to find the strength they possess for growth and change. She helps clients develop and achieve positive and realistic goals. She blends empathy with an unwavering commitment to evidence-based practices and scientific principles. A fundamental belief that each person has great value and is capable of living a meaningful life undergirds all of her counseling techniques.

Terri’s experience includes helping with child behavioral concerns, ADHD, preparing for marriage, achieving marital harmony, divorce adjustment, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, post-partum depression, grief, and adjustment disorders. Additionally, as a family pastor she is skilled in spiritual formation and life coaching. She has worked in ministry with children, families, and marriages for 30 years. As a former publisher of Livingston Parent Journal, she developed a passion to help families in our community to be whole and healthy.

In Terri’s spare time you’ll find her laughing with little nieces and nephews, reading a science journal, watching stand-up comedy with her son, or taking a walk to the book shop with her husband of 30 years.
