John G. Heger, Psy.S., LLP

John Heger is a clinician with a Specialist Degree in Clinical Psychology and Experiential Education from the Michigan School of Psychology and a
Master’s degree in Practical Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary.

John has enjoyed working with individuals and couples as a psychologist since 1997 and prior as a counselor and minister, totaling over 29 years of service. He has provided therapy and service for in-patient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient patient mental health clinics, adult residential settings, and para-church clinical settings, working with ministers in clinical rehabilitation and growth issues. He has facilitated marital and premarital seminars with his wife and enjoys teaching at his local church.

John specializes in adult ADD, anxiety, coping with pain and health issues, couples counseling, depression, grief and loss issues, men’s issues, OCD, relational boundaries, and sexual addictions. He incorporates the therapy modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology -Strengths Awareness, and Christian Counseling. He states, “I enjoy helping people develop awareness of their strengths and giftings as a catalyst to navigate from places of struggle to places of freedom and capacity.”

John lives in the Brighton area with his wife and enjoys spending time kayaking, being with other couples playing table top games, cooking, reading, writing, and taking road trips with his wife and his German Shepherd, “Hogan."
